We cordially invite you to participate at the workshop "Energy efficiency in the building sector of Southeast Europe - approaches for partnerships between the business sector and the development cooperation", which will take place on 19th March in Eschborn (near to Frankfurt am Main/Germany).

The workshop has the objective to discuss barriers, which companies face on the local markets for energy efficiency in buildings, and to elaborate together ideas for cooperation projects, which can help to overcome such barriers. Areas for potential cooperation can be for instance the development of building codes (legal framework conditions) and the training of professionals (e.g. skilled crafts).

The target region comprises the countries Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. They all look for the accession to the EU and give high priority to energy efficiency. Driving forces are the unreliable energy supply and the objective to fulfill the acquis communitaire also in the field of energy efficiency.

The workshop is the joint initiative of the GTZ's "Büro für die Zusammenarbeit mit der Wirtschaft" and of a GTZ regional programme on energy efficiency and renewable energy. It is supposed to be a first step for the development of joint projects between business sector and development cooperation.

Experiences of GTZ with Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) will be taken into consideration. Under the PPP-scheme develoPPP.de of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation GTZ supports initiatives which help to develop the target market in the interest of the private sector and which are in line with Germany's development policy goals. The stakeholders share the responsibility, costs and risks.

The workshop addresses companies which are already doing business in Southeast Europe as well as those which plan to enter the market. Thus, it provides also a general platform for exchanging information and experiences.

We would appreciate your participation. In case of any question please do not hesitate to contact us. For registration please fill in the attached registration form and send it to Stefanie Ruck before 9th March.
